Fourtown area gets hit with break-ins and cemetery vandalism

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating cabin break-ins around the Fourtown area. It is believed that the incidents took place within the last few days. Various properties have had their gate locks cut with entry onto the premises. 

Several residents around the Fourtown area noticed that some things looked out of place. Property gates, along with the gates at both ends of the dike, were standing open and it was found that the locks had been cut. Also, some of the property owners that had arrived at their cabins for the weekend, found evidence of a break-in, however, no further details are being released at this time. Sgt. Robert Carlson from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department stated, “We have no comment at this point other than it’s currently under investigation and we are in the process of identifying the property owners.”

In addition to the break-ins, there was also a local cemetery vandalized. Saturday morning, driving past the Wildwood Cemetery, west of Fourtown, in Spruce Grove Township, a passerby had noticed that various memorial flags, adorning veteran gravesites, had been broken in half. The rural resident had also noticed that a floral memorial cross had been broken in half and thrown into the ditch. It is unknown at this time if other cemeteries around the area were vandalized.
