Grygla fifth grade completes DARE class

The Grygla 5th grade class recently held their graduation from the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program, which was taught for 10 weeks by Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy, Angie Brekke. The students are taking with them the skills needed to make safe and responsible choices.
Brigette Watne and Zoey Fish were chosen to read the essays they had each written, sharing with the audience what they learned and what their personal goals will be concerning D.A.R.E in the future.
Brigette wrote her essay on how she will “dare to be different”, and not follow in the foot steps of others who have had trouble with tobacco and alcohol. She told about her grandma, Shirley, and how she died because of the effects of smoking (COPD). Brigette listed many ways to say no to drugs and alcohol.
Zoey wrote about her uncle, Jesse, her grandpa and her great uncle that all died from drug overdoses. She put into courageous words what she would do to prevent such things from happening to her.
