New rural route carriers
You meet them on the rural roads and they usually are not sitting in the drivers’ seat. These rural mail carriers deliver the mail to out-laying areas Monday through Saturday. They only leave their vehicles to deliver an article that must be taken to a customer’s door. These rural mail carriers also have “city routes”. Mail boxes can be put up in cities and after the Trail Post office closed all resident of the City of Trail are on a city route. Rural letter carriers use their own vehicles and are not required to wear a uniform, but they do have identification badges. The Gonvick Post Office has currently hired Patrick Hammer who will be working out of the Gonvick Post Office to assist the regular rural driver when he is on vacation and or needs to take time off. Shown above is Patrick Hammer with Stanley Sundquist who has the Gonvick Route. Jeremy Bergerson has been covering the Trail Route for Harold Sweno. The third route out of Gonvick that Luke Newton covers is looking for another Rural Carrier Associate to be hired.
