On Saturday, July 9th, the Northwood Church hosted its 18th year of having a picnic, including entertainment. This year, the program portion had a variety of singers and speakers. It was also a special day for Otto Hagen, former member of the church, as he was celebrating his 99th birthday. A special song was sang in Norwegian for him by his grandchildren.
This picnic was all made possible by Judith Kotrba. Her brother, Harlem Lee, started hosting this for the first time in 1997. From there, it was hosted again in the year 2000 and has continued every year since!
Following the program is a potluck picnic for everyone to enjoy and visit with old friends. The picnic isn’t the only thing that has been hosted at this church, multiple Christmas programs have also been held there. The Northwood Church has received many restorations over the past years and is kept in tip-top shape. Though not many members of the original congregation are still living, the picnic gets a great turn out every year. They hope to keep this an ongoing tradition and hope to get more people to attend and enjoy!
