A Successful Fair and a Friend Remembered
A quiet calm Monday morning, sunrise on the Bagley American Legion Beer Garden. Another fair, another year once again done.
As the Bagley American Legion beer garden sits empty and quiet once more, bar manager Richard Olson is reflecting on another successful Clearwater County Fair.
“Well, another fair has come and gone, and another Bagley Legion beer garden has enjoyed great success,” Olson said. “A big shoutout to Lori Knutson, who does a great job coordinating it, and to Greg Caspers, who stepped up in a big way this year. The Legion is very grateful to all the other workers who give so much. We couldn’t do it without you.”
Olson also thanked the Bagley Municipal Liquor Store for supplying ice throughout the fair.“It was a lifesaver,” he said.
“And to all the fairgoers who patronized the beer garden, we say thank you so much.”
This year’s gathering was bittersweet following the death of longtime friend Jerry Walvatne. Olson concluded with a special tribute:
“To our dear friend Jerry Walvatne, whom God called home: You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. Miss you, buddy.”
