New Food Prep Manager at the Bagley Senior Center
Running the Bagley Senior Center kitchen is no small task—Meals on Wheels, pickup meals, and a in-house lunches are served every day. Yet Deb, handles it all masterfully with an heart to serve.
Initially, Debbie began working part-time alongside the previous kitchen manager April 2025. Then October 2025 Debbie took the reins as the full-time kitchen manager. She trained with Joyce Moen, kitchen manager at the Clearbrook Senior Center. Debbie said she “learned a lot” from Joyce.
Debbie has a heart for helping others and feeding people. And she does it all with a big smile and a positive attitude. It is very nice to dine in the center and be a part of her infectious joy. Debbie is a perfect fit for this job.
Debbie is one of only two individuals at the Bagley Senior Center employed by NSI Nutrition Services, Inc. The monthly menus are set. Deb puts her own touch on some of the menu items to give them more pizzazz.
Prior to the Bagley Senior Center Debbie worked at the Bemidji Senior Center. Prior to that she worked in the “public sector”. Debbie enjoys quilting and 4-wheeling on the 30+ acres she lives on with her husband near Solway.
Debbie was born and raised in South Dakota. Then came to Minnesota via Iowa. She has three grown children and six grandchildren.
Assisting Debbie in the kitchen are a band of volunteers. Volunteers are the backbone of the Bagley Senior Center. The volunteers assist in the kitchen, run the Thrift Store and the Craft Store. Without volunteers the two stores wouldn’t be possible. And in the kitchen? It’s hard to imagine Deb preparing the deliveries, pickups and then serve those that eat in alone. Volunteers are vital!
Debbie invites anyone who would like a good home cooked meal to contact the senior center directly. Seniors age 60 and over may dine in or pick up a meal. Those who are unable to get out to dine in or pick up their meal may sign up for the MOW (Meals on Wheels) program.
The suggested donation of $6.00 per meal. No senior is denied a meal. Individuals under the age 60 may enjoy a dine in or pick up meal. Meals for those under 60 are $10.
Contact the Bagley Senior Center to sign up for dine in or pick up by 10:00am the day you want to eat, the day prior if possible. For MOW contact the center the day before you wish your meal delivery to begin.
Volunteers are always welcomed and the center is a great place to volunteer.
