The Jones family meets NFL’s Carson Wentz

Being big Carson Wentz fans, David and Lori Jones, of Gatzke, entered a drawing at Scheels in Fargo to meet the former Bison football player, who played for NDSU and was recently drafted into the NFL by the Philadelphia Eagles. As luck would have it, David’s name ended up being drawn and the Jones family were one of 300 winners out of 9,000 entries to go meet Wentz!
Each winner was able to bring 2 guests to meet the pro on Wednesday, July 13th. This presented a problem as David and Lori have three kids – Walter, Lewis and Gus. They found out their family friend, Jaci Hasbrouck, entered the contest online because she knew how much the Jones family would love to go; she also was chosen and could bring two guests, so the whole family was able to go, including Jaci.
Each winner was able to bring one item for Carson to autograph and get one picture with him and their guests; they were also able to talk with Carson for a few minutes at the event, that was held at the Avalon West Events Center in Fargo, ND.
Earlier this summer, the youngest of the boys, Gus, wore his NDSU Wentz shirt to UND football camp. The photo was sent to Wentz over Twitter, who talked and laughed about it last week with the family!
After visiting with and wishing Wentz good luck in the NFL, guests were served refreshments while watching a video about Carson’s career with the Bison. Following that, Carson and 2 of his NDSU coaches talked with the crowd. The trio told the story of Wentz getting drafted earlier this year and answered questions from kids in the audience. “One little girl asked if he would ever play for the MN Vikings, which drew a lot of laughs,” said Lori. Wentz replied with a laugh and said, “I’m an Eagle!”
Upon leaving, guests were given autographed pictures and a Wentz poster with the Eagles schedule on it. “We are so thankful for the experience we had last Wednesday. We’re even bigger Wentz/Bison/Eagle fans now,” commented Lori.
