Clearwater County Food Shelf Will Receive Matching Funds for March Contributions

Each March, Minnesota FoodShare directs the March Campaign, the largest food drive in the state and restocks almost 300 food shelves across Minnesota. Throughout the year, Minnesota FoodShare advocates on behalf of hungry families with state and federal lawmakers and educates the public about hunger in Minnesota. Best of all, the Minnesota FoodShare acts as a clearinghouse for cash donations and gives matching funds for cash donations made to our county between March 1 and April 7, so your cash donations will add up to much more than the amount of your check.

The 2015 March campaign in Clearwater County was a great success. ""Last year’s March Campaign was a first for me as site manager and I really didn’t know what to expect. Well, we received over two tons of food from our generous citizens of Clearwater County and you guys kept us very busy all month!" notes site manager Suzann Moen. "I am so grateful for the volunteers that helped collect and deliver the food, along with those who helped in sorting it. I know what to expect this year and am looking forward to seeing those of you who drop off donations at the Food Shelf on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You can also use the drop off boxes at the Bagley Public Library and Clearwater County Court House."

"We have greatly appreciated the generosity of past donors, especially our long-time faithful." adds Clearwater County Food Shelf President Becky Colebank. "The people of this county have been wonderful."

You can contribute in several ways: 1. Organize a food drive at your work place 2. Make a contribution and either mail it to Clearwater County Food Shelf, P. O. Box 578, Bagley MN 56621 or drop it off on Wednesdays at the food shelf which is located at 114 Main Ave N. (basement of the American Legion – go to back door) in Bagley. The Bagley Public Library is another drop-off point. 3. Volunteer to work at the food shelf. We need volunteers to sort food, pack boxes and interview clients on Wednesdays of every week. To volunteer, call food shelf president Becky Colebank at 218-968-2268 or Site Coordinator Suzann Moen at 694-3989.

The Clearwater County Food Shelf is open every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
