115 fifth grade students in the Clearwater County DARE program

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the graduation of approximately 115 fifth grade students from the Clearwater County DARE program.

The students are from both the Bagley and Clearbrook/Gonvick Schools.

This year marked the 20th year that Sheriff Darin Halverson has been teaching the DARE program. On April 6th, the classes were treated to a celebration at the BSU Gillette Recreation Center where they were able to swim, rock climb, or play basketball and volleyball.

The DARE program is designed to teach children to make health, wise decisions and also talks about bullying and what students can do to help stop it or what to do if it is happening to them. "It is really important to teach kids how to make good choices so that they don’t go down the wrong path in life," stated Sheriff Halverson. "I am very proud of the DARE graduates this year and look forward to seeing them grow and become productive citizens," added Halverson. The DARE program is taught in schools nationwide and has been in existence since 1985.
