Services for Linda Olson

Linda Fae Olsen (Johnson), 61, of Bagley, journeyed to the Spirit World at home surrounded by family on Friday, November 20, 2015.  Linda was born May 4, 1954 in Bagley, MN to John and Belvia (Engebretson) Johnson and grew up in Gonvick, MN and B.S. Valley and attended Bagley School. 

 

Wake/Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 10:30 am at Grace Chapel (11 miles South of Bagley on #92).  Services will be held also on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Grace Chapel with Pastors Chris Conger and Jill Torgerson officiating with a special reading by Alice (Cacky) Peterson.  Interment will be at Minerva Cemetery, Minerva, MN.  The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

 

At the age of 17, Linda started a family in Red Lake, MN, where she had four children. In 1979, while in Bagley, she met her future husband, James “Jim” Olsen of Minneapolis, MN, whom she later married in 1990.  In 1981, Linda & Jim moved to Minerva township and built their current home.  In 1997, Linda & Jim raised their niece and nephew after her younger sister passed away. 

Linda worked various jobs starting at a Potato Farm in Grafton, ND; Nelson Egg Farms of Minerva; Stiner’s Nursery of Ebro; Wild Rice Gourmet House of Clearbrook; American Crystal Sugars (16 yrs) of Drayton, ND; Cook for Bagley Elementary School; Orton’s of Bagley; Clearwater County Park; PCA for Circle of Life; and nearly 20 yrs. as an Independent Avon Representative; and selling crafts. 

 

Linda volunteered much of her time to many organizations including being a member of Bagley American Legion Irvin Blix #16 and life-member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She also was on the V.F.W. Bowling League & Fair Bingo Committee(88-93), Women’s Grace Chapel Church (88-93), Minerva Town Clerk (88-95); Jim’s 40th Battalion Army Reunion (2006-2015). She was MN VFW 9th District Auxiliary President- 1999-2000. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, site-seeing, laughing & photo-taking of friends & family, especially her grandchildren, reading, Ojibwe culture, crocheting/crafts. She was most cherished for her fresh bread loaves, lefse, and frybread.     

 

She is survived by husband Jim Olsen; daughter Priscilla Johnson & Don York of Bagley; son’s:  Conway Johnson of Mahnomen; Harlan Johnson & Jessica Olsen of Shevlin; Chipper & Jill Johnson of Cass Lake; Step-daughter Darcia Johnson & Albert of Bagley. Siblings: Dennis & Renee Engebretson of Leonard; & David Johnson of Grand Forks, ND. She loved her grandchildren- Brie, Jamie, Jerome, Damian, Terrence, Autumn, Emily, Danielle, & Alecia; neices & nephews, and great grand-daughter Allisyn. She was very proud of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, younger sister Mary & step-son Cisco Johnson.
