Services for Violet Edith Olson

Violet Edith Olson, of Crookston, MN, formerly of Clearbrook, MN, died on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Riverview Care Center in Crookston, MN with her family by her side.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN with Reverend Bill Reck officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service also at the church.  Interment will be at Elim Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with the arrangements.

 

Violet was born on May 8 in England the daughter of George and Alice (Watkins) Stanton.  She grew up and attended school in England, where she met Clifford Olson during World War II, while he was stationed there.  After his honorable discharge, Clifford made arrangements for Violet to come to the United States on a ship.  They were married on April 6 in Bagley, MN and made their home in rural Clearbrook on a dairy farm raising 6 girls.  Violet had a love for animals and animals took a liking to her.  She enjoyed flowers, especially roses, shopping and going for walks in the country.  Violet loved to bake, her specialties were bread and she made the best apple pies.  She was a charter member of Elim Lutheran Brethren Church where she sang in the choir, she sang with the String Band, she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and she was very active with the Mission Friends.  Violet was a member of the Melvin Johnson American Auxiliary Post #256 of Clearbrook.  Violets favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was very hospitable and cordial.  After Clifford’s death in 2008, Violet moved to Brookfield Apartments and spent the last 5 years of her life at Riverview Memory Care Unit.

Reenie (Doug) Peterson of Ada, MN

Vickie (Lyle) Solie of Fertile, MN

Marilyn (Steve) Flateland of Crookston, MN

Tammy (Rod) Erickson of Ada, MN

Michelle Fawver of Ramsey, MN

Best Friends – Kathleen Magsum of Bemidji, MN

Doreen Grove of Crookston, MN

16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren

 

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law – Lee Fawver, her twin brother – Tom,  her 2 sisters – Ann and Nellie and several Nieces and nephews.
