Services for Dr. David Sandwick

Dr. David Dean Sandwick, formerly of Bagley MN, died Friday, September

4th 2015, in Floresville TX at the age of 78.

David was born August 3, 1937 to Willie and Thelma Sandwick of

Laporte MN.  He was the 2nd of 3 sons; Lowell Sandwick ( eldest) and

Donald Sandwick.  He graduated from Laporte High School in 1955 and

continued his formal education at Bemidji State University, where he

studied pre-dentistry.  He earned an A.A. Degree from BSU and began

his dental training at the University of Minnesota School of

Dentistry earning his B.S and then his D.D.S. Degree in 1962.  David

was commissioned in the United States Navy where he served for the

next 2 years in Waukegan Illinois.

During David's undergraduate studies, he married Janice Lee Vincent

(Kitty) and began a family including;  Robyn Sandwick (Johnson),

Sherry Sandwick (Nord), Todd Sandwick and Jill Sandwick (Nelson).

After his Service in the Navy, David chose to return to northern

Minnesota to raise his young family and purchased a dental practice

in Bagley MN.  He greatly enjoyed his profession and grew to know

Bagley as home.  David was involved in numerous local organizations and served for many years on the Bagley School Board.

In 1986, David married Valada Campbell and added 4 more children to

his fold.  Michael (Bert) Campbell, Michelle Campbell (Dean), Maija Campbell

(Johnson), and Mylynn (Tunie) Campbell (Jones).

David retired from his life long profession in 1999 and chose to

retire to Bracketteville TX.

As all who knew David can attest to, he had an infectious zest for

life.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, scuba diving,

gardening, telling stories and simply living.

During David's years of active dental practice, he volunteered his

professional services in Honduras for many years.  His love of travel

also led him to volunteer in places such as Papua New Guinea, Belize and

Bethel Alaska.  After his retirement he spent a short stint as the

ship's resident dentist.

His zest for life touched so many family and friends.  We were

blessed to know him and continue to be blessed by our memories of

him.

A memorial service will be held at Bagley Evangelical Free Church on Saturday September 12th at 1:00 pm.
