Duane George Winter

Duane George Winter 81 , passed away at Souix Falls SD Va Hospital, Monday June 1, 2015. He was born September 17, 1933 in Bathgate ND. He grew up in Kittson County. He attended school in Crookston AC. He joined the Army, August 22, 1956 and served until May 26, 1958.
Duane married Verna Albaugh on October 11, 1958 in Grand Forks North Dakota. They were happily married for 34 years. This union produced 3 children. Cindy Lou, Rae Marie, and Wayne Allen. They resided in Hallock and St Vincent Minnesota before settling in Clearbrook, where the girls graduated.
Duane was an owner/operator all his life and known to many as Squirt. He traveled in his semi, all the continental US and also Alaska. Duane and Verna lived in Anchorage Alaska where Wayne graduated. . They moved to Spokane Washington, where Duane was caretaker for Verna for the 5 years, she had cancer. Verna passed away June 3, 1992 in Spokane Washington. His latter years were spent in Little Falls close to Cindy and Family and then in Pipestone close to Rae and Family.
Duane is proceeded in death by spouse Verna Winter, brother Charles Winter (Phyllis) and parents Raymond and Stella Winter.
Duane is survived by Daughters: Cindy Erickson (Buddy) of Trail MN, Rae Werner (Steve) Pipestone MN, Son: Wayne Winter (Clint) of Palm Springs California. Grandsons: Jesse Erickson (Dayna) of St Cloud MN, Lee Erickson (Amy) of St Cloud MN and Jeff Werner Pipestone MN Granddaughters Dusti Werner of Souix Falls SD, and Shelly Werner Pipestone MN Brother Glen (Judy ) Winter and Sister Judy (Leonard) Iten both of Fargo.
A Memorial service is planned for late August in Clearbrook MN. We welcome to all friends and family to celebrate Duane’s life with the family. More details will be forthcoming.
