Yvonne Morinville, 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
A Private Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, October 30, 202 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls with Father Dominic Crawford Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks, MN at approximately 3:00 PM.
Public visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls.
Yvonne Elizabeth Mercil was born August 21, 1929 in Brooks, MN, the daughter of Medor and Elizabeth (Champagne) Mercil. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Church, Brooks, MN. Yvonne attended grades 1 thru 8 at Brooks, high school at Plummer, MN for 1 ½ years and graduated Lincoln high school, Thief River Falls, MN in 1947.
On October 6, 1947, Yvonne was united in marriage to Lawrence N. Morinville at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN.
Yvonne was a loving wife, a homemaker, and an excellent manager of six children. She loved to sew, embroidery and enjoyed reading and gardening. She was adept in making baby quilts and lap robes to give away. As her generation did, she communicated with friends and relatives through her writings in cards. She was a member of St. Joseph Prayer Group and John Birch Society and a member of the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters. Yvonne’s life demonstrated her belief in the Traditional Catholic Faith.
She is survived by children: Linda Griewing (L.D.) Coeur D’Alene, ID, Barbara (David) Rodahl, Thief River Falls, MN, Sharleen Morinville, Brooks, MN, Valerie (Ross) Bruggeman, Terrebonne, MN, Rodney Morinville, Erskine, MN and Perry (Joyce) Morinville, Brooks, MN; grandchildren: Shane (Lindsay) Morinville, Florence, MT, Chassity (Andrew) Ross of Thornton, CO, Kyle (Yvonne) Morinville of Henderson, CO, Chad (Rebecca) Morinville, Montevideo, MN, Amanda (Brian) Hicks of Fond du Lac, WI and Michael Rodahl of Thief River Falls, MN, Christopher (Robyn) Morinville, Brooks, MN and Jenni (Bryce) Huotari, Moorhead, MN; great grandchildren: Dahlila Morinville, Thia Morinville, Keira Morinville, Jackson Morinville, Easton Morinville, Harper Morinville, Brooklyn Morinville, Madisyn Morinville, Abigail Morinville, Eliana Morinville, Presly Morinville, Kenzo Morinville and Sunny Morinville, Carter Huotari. Grady Huotari, Finley Huotari, Noelle Hicks, Maliya Hicks, and Miles Ross; brothers: Virgil Mercil, of Thief River Falls, MN, Wendy (Addie) Mercil, White Bear Lake, MN and Gerald (Gen) Mercil, of Bloomington, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband, Lawrence; parents, Medor and Elizabeth Mercil; grandson Preston Morinville; grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mercil and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Champagne; sister Mildred (Royal) Ost; sister-in-law Muriel Mercil.
