Services for Wayne Rudolph Torgerson
Wayne Rudolph Torgerson, 75, of Clearbrook, Minnesota died of an apparent heart attack in Grand Forks, ND on June 21, 2018.
Visitation will be held Monday night, June 25, 2018 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, MN. Funeral services will be held on, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Church in Clearbrook, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at Clearwater Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Wayne was born on March 9, 1943 in Bagley, Minnesota, the son to Rudy and Gertrude (Babe) Torgerson. They lived 5 miles east of Clearbrook, MN on a farm. He went to the Rydeen country school and the Clearbrook Public School. Wayne married Sheryll Logelin on September 19, 1964 at the First Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN. Early in his working years, Wayne worked for B & H Hardware where he ran a backhoe. He worked with David Nordlund hauling cattle to South St. Paul, he worked at the missile sites in North Dakota, and also at the sunflower plant in Gonvick. It was there that he met Noel Coon. Noel said he had a backhoe and Wayne said, he was the one who could run it for him. Neither believed the other. But Northern Pipeline was founded and Wayne was the third person hired. He worked there until 1978, when he and Sheryll started North Central Service, Inc. Wayne was an IFR rated pilot and flew to many of the job sites. He worked at North Central Service until he retired in 2009. By that time the company had been sold to his son Troy.
Wayne and Sheryll had purchased the Logelin farm plus other land surrounding it. After his retirement, Wayne liked to hunt and do some hobby farming. He enjoyed ranger riding through the woods, and giving the great grandkids rides who lived nearby. He also liked NASCAR racing. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt and Wayne was at Dale’s last race. Later Dale Earnhardt Jr. became his favorite driver. Wayne also enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his wife Sheryll of over 53 years

Grandchildren-Brent Mathson, Kasie (Richard) Smith, Bailey Mathson, Zach Terrill, and Taryn Torgerson.
Great Grandchildren-Chasity Mathson, Malea Mathson, Tyler Guy Mathson, and Alexis Smith.

Sisters-Loretta Halvorson of Arizona, Rita Tjenstrom (Roger Schalo) of Nevis, MN, and TruDee (Mike) Torgerson of Clearbrook, MN.
Brothers-in-law-Norris Maple of Moorhead, MN. And Don (Karen) Logelin.
Ex-son-in-law-Guy Mathson who remains part of the family.
Many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents Rudy and Babe Torgerson, Sister Colleen Maple, and Grandson Tyler Daryl Mathson.
