Services for Wayne C. Walhaug

Wayne C. Walhaug of Oklee, MN passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND with his loving family by his side at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 12 days. May his memory be blessed.
Wayne Clarence Walhaug was born August 16, 1953 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Clarence and Martha (Lee) Walhaug. He was raised on the family farm near Oklee, MN. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Wayne went to school at Oklee High School and graduated in 1971.
Wayne went on to work at various places, Arctic Cat, Forsberg’s, Hydra-Mac (where he learned to love the skid steer). He then went to work for Charlie Johnson Farm for several years. He then worked for Erskine Mfg. in Fosston, MN until his health caused him a disability. In the spare time during spring and fall he would help on the farm of Les & Bob O’Neill.
Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, any mechanical challenges, working on small engines or big engines. He had a talent to tear apart and put back together again. Wayne was a handyman and a master of none! One of his favorite past times in the spring was picking wild asparagus and sharing with his sisters and friends.
Wayne has had a few good friends to help him over the last year, David Sweno, Sharon & Eddie Larson, and Eric Mattison. Thank you all for being supportive and such special friends.
Wayne is survived by two daughters, Toni (Brian) Gillespie and Angie Dahlen; sister, Carol (Richard) Clark; nieces & nephews, Kristie (Paul) Hendrickson, Eric Mattison, Eron (Carmelle) Mattison, Kim Larson, Brandi Larson, Trevor (Kris) Larson, Taryn (Rick) Spiering, TJ (Kari) Rux, Jason (Jacqueline) Clark, Kelly Clark Mitchell; grandchildren, Cole, Dayle & Grace; several great nieces & great nephews; many other relatives and friends; and Miss Kitty his very special cat.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eddie Mattison; sisters, Sharon (Warren) Larson and Shirley (Gary) Rux; great nephew, Gannon Hejlik; and numerous family members and friends.
Interment will be at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery north of Oklee, MN on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
