Services for Vern Larson

Vern Larson, 77, from San Antonio TX went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital -  Westover Hills in San Antonio, Texas, in the company of his wife, four children and one daughter-in-law.

Vern was born on July 16, 1939, to Roy Larson and Esther (Bergeson) Larson in Gonvick, Minnesota, where he grew up and graduated High School. He was married to Marvilla Mae Tollefson, (Marty), on June 12, 1959 at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN. Vern considered her to be the love of his life for 57 years.

Vern is survived by his wife Marvilla, four children; Ronda Larson, Jeff Larson (Janelle), Mark Larson (Elizabeth), and Brenda Larson Sanford; his siblings, LaVone Peterson, Kermit Larson (Wanda) and Renae Mugge. Vern was a loving grandfather of eleven; Amber, Asha, Cody (Brenda), Hanna (Ronda), Elijah, Sofia (Mark), Selena, Serafina, Leizl, Mike and Matt (Jeff) and three great grandchildren, Zoey (Cody), Aumunga-Lofa and Mya (Selena).

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Esther, his sister, Carol Ann Faldet and brother, Gerald Larson.

Most of his adult life, Vern worked at LTV Steel (Erie Mining Company) as a Millwright near Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota, where he and his wife lived and raised their family. He retired on August 11, 1999, and enjoyed much of his retirement living in San Benito, Texas, with his wife Marty. They first spent their winters there, finally moving to San Benito year round in 2010. Throughout his life he loved to go hunting and fishing in the lakes of Minnesota and surf fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am, on November 12, 2016 at the Baptist Church in Rio Hondo, Texas.
