Stephen Wayne Taflin of Bagley, MN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday May 24, 2022 at the age of 66.
A public Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday June 25, 2022 at the Clearbrook Senior Citizens Center.  Steve will be laid to rest at the Taflin site at the Maple Hill Cemetery south of Clearbrook.  Blessed be his memory.
Steve was born to Marilyn (Pat) Graftaas and Robert (Bobby) Taflin on October 11, 1955 in Virginia, MN.
Within a couple of years the family moved to Clearbrook where Steve grew up and attended the Clearbrook School graduating with highest honors in 1973.  He subsequently earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Bemidji State University.
In May 2006 he married Tina Messner and had three children; JackieLynn, Quinlan, and Lindsey.
Steve taught elementary education at the Red Lake School District for a period of time as well as subbing at various local schools.  He also worked at Team Industries in Bagley until his health began to deteriorate.
Steve had a life long passion for sports, specifically long distance running, basketball, softball, and bowling, the latter two which he enjoyed into his fifties.  He excelled in cross country competition throughout high school and college, and still holds a record at BSU.  Steve was a talented trombone player, avid coin collector and liked the challenge of chess.  He always felt the need to expand his knowledge on many topics and was so proud of his children's accomplishments.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother and father, nephew Brooks Greenlee, Aunts Arlene Vadnais and Gloria Narveson, Uncles Jerry Snobeck, Harold Narveson and Robert Vadnais, and cousin Patrick George.  He is survived by his three children, sisters Roberta Braaten (Paul) and Renea Greenlee (Wade), brothers Scott and Stewart Taflin, two nieces and one nephew, three Aunts and one Uncle, several great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Come to me all who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.  Matthew 11: 28-30
