Services for Stanley (Sonny) Harvey Voxland

Stanley (Sonny) Harvey Voxland, 80, of Clearbrook, Minnesota, died Thursday, December 17th, 2015 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center from complications due to kidney failure.

Sonny was born November 2nd, 1935, in Leon Township, Clearbrook, Minnesota, to Rudolph and Thelma (Johnson) Voxland.  Sonny was one of seven children.  

Sonny and his siblings lost their parents at a very young age. As a teenager, Sonny traveled west and worked odd jobs on ranches and farms in North Dakota, Montana, and other western states.  Sonny returned to Clearbrook in his twenties and worked on the pipeline. He retired at the age of 67 from Northern Pipline company.

He married his wife of 49 years, Susan Gibeau, in 1966 in Clearbrook, Minnesota.  Together they had two children, Carla (Matthew) Harrold and Barry (Jo) Voxland.

Sonny’s life was characterized by his belief in the dignity of every human being, and he is remember for his kindness to others.  He loved his friends and his family, especially his grandchildren.  Some of his favorite memories of his grandchildren include watching Paul playing hockey, Haley in plays and musicals, and Hunter and Chase playing baseball.  

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry, mother-in-law Marie Gibeau, brothers-in-law Kenneth (Marlon) , Russel (Sharon), Harlan (Judy), Richard (Nan), and Mike Gibeau, Bob Vanderport, Glen Langseth, sister-in-law Jeanne (Gibeau) Raboin, niece Alice Raboin, and nephew Stephen Lee.

He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, brothers Ray (Dolly) Voxland and Bobbie (Mary) Olson, sisters Betty Langseth, Eilene Vanderport, Gloria (Bill) Lee, sister-in-law Kathy (Rick) Johnson, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. 

According to his wishes, his life will be celebrated in the spring at a family graveside service.
