Ruth Larson crossed over into Life Eternal with her Savior, on December 26, 2015.
Ruth Emilie Thompson was born in Clearbrook, MN on June 27, 1923, to parents Solomon and Ingeborg Thompson. Ruth was educated at Clearbrook public schools and received her undergraduate degree from Augsburg College. She then devoted her profession and passion to teaching as a high school English and Social Studies instructor at both Newfolden and Gonvick, MN. Ruth was married to Wally Larson at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in June of 1957, and made their home in the Weme area of rural Clearbrook.
Ruth and Wally have two sons, Mark (Sharon) Larson of Clearbrook, and Paul (Billi Jo) Larson of Fergus Falls, MN. Ruth is further survived by eight grandchildren: Dan (Nicole), Matt (Melissa), David, Gabe, Gracia, Nick, Karina, and Nate; four great grandchildren: Ava, Eric, Dylan, and Elsa; and by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Wally, her parents, and her siblings Anna Halverson, Gerda Engebretson, Rangvald Thompson, and Helen Sandland.
Ruth was active in ministry through her church, Elim LBC, and was especially dedicated to ministry to youth and international missions. She was a woman deeply devoted to prayer and the study and teaching of God's Word, carrying on her passion for teaching in the public school also by teaching high school Sunday School continuously for 35 years. Her multitude of beloved students over several generations in the community and the church, were her pride, and are her legacy.
The funeral service for Ruth Larson will be at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church at 11:00 AM on December 30, 2015. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitations will also be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Oak Park Lutheran Church in rural Clearbrook. Memorial gifts can be made to Lutheran Brethren Seminary.
