Services for Rosella Nelson
Rosella Nelson, 77, of Clearbrook, MN died on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her residence in Clearbrook, MN
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Adam Krog officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Rosella was born on October 26, 1940, the daughter of Otto and Ragna (Ranisate) Oien, on a farm outside of Bagley where she attended country school. She graduated Salutatorian from Bagley High School in 1958 and received a scholarship for tuition and fees to Bemidji State College where she attended one year. While Rosella went to college, she worked as a nanny to cover her room and board. Rosella married Gary Nelson on April 1, 1961 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Holst Township. They moved to Havre, Montana in 1961, returning to Minnesota in 1963 when they loved on a farm in Greenwood Township. In 1971, They moved to a farm in Leon Township. Rosella and Gary farmed from 1963 until 1996 milking Dairy cows, farmed and raised their family. Rosella never missed a sporting event or a school event of her children. After her children left home, she became a CNA and worked at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook and was known to speak Norwegian to the residents. After Rosella retired when she was 70, she was able to take her grandchildren anywhere or everywhere. Her grandchildren were very important to her. Rosella was a member of Elim Lutheran Brethren Church where she taught Sunday School and belonged to the Mission Friends. Rosella was an avid sports fan, She enjoyed hunting, fishing, puzzles and painting landscapes and mountains. She was a seamstress, and expert Lefse maker, especially on her wood stove and was known for her caramel rolls. Rosella loved watching Wheel of Fortune and enjoyed feeding and watching birds. Rosella was a great example of unconditional love, especially with her children, her grandchildren and her dog Foxy.
Rosella is survived by her son – Wayne (Wanda) Nelson of Leonard, Minnesota
Son – Byron (Jennifer) Nelson of Clearbrook, MN
Son – Paul (Rachel) Nelson of Clearbrook, MN
Daughter – Linda (David) Quern of Gonvick, Minnesota
10 grandchildren – Brandon Quern, Dawson Quern, Ty Nelson, Levi Nelson, Justin Nelson, Angelica Nelson, Noah Nelson Tyler Torgerson, Dallas Torgerson and Vance Torgerson.
Several great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband – Gary, and her brother - Orlean.
