Rose was born on May 8, 1917 in Gonvick to parents Albert and Ida (Nelson) Johnson. She was raised and attended school in Gonvick, and then attended Beauty School in Fargo. Rose was united in marriage to Verner Odegaard on September 8, 1940. To this union four children were born.
Rose loved knitting, sewing, and all types of needlework. She did a beautiful job on anything she attempted. She was wonderful at canning, cooking, (especially potato klub) and baking. Making Buns was her specialty. She also dabbled a bit in wine making. Rose could fillet a walleye faster and better than anyone in Gonvick. She also gave a few lessons on her talent of fileting fish. Rose and JoAnn loved traveling country roads looking for wild flowers to press. She loved her grandchildren and was always eager to talk and get pictures of them. She also did extensive traveling with her brother Arne and his wife Nancy. She was a proud member of Samhold Lutheran Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Gonvick. Rose was a beautiful lady, a wonderful mother, and had a wonderful life. She will be deeply missed, especially by her grand-dog Bentley.
She is survived by 3 children, JoAnn Birkeland of Gonvick, MN; Arvin (My) Odegaard of Rochester, NY; and Debbie (Dave) Heitke of Paynesville, MN; five grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son - Dennis; her brothers -  Arne and Ben; and her sister -  Evelyn.
