Services for Ronald Rustan,
Ronald Rustan, Oklee, MN, 66, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN, with his loving family by his side.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at River of Life Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Timothy Self officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at River of Life Church.
Ronald (Ron) Rustan was born on June 23, 1954 in Thief River Falls, MN. He was the eldest of 6 with 5 sisters who all grew up on the family farm. Ron attended school in Oklee and graduated in 1972. Ron married Judy Srnsky on April 3rd, 1976 at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Oklee, MN. They raised 3 children together in their rural home.
Ron attended Northland College in Thief River Falls. Later went to Staples to become a machinist. He spent some time on the road working construction. He spent several years serving as a caregiver and later in maintenance. He took great pride in his work.
Ron loved the outdoors and tending to the yard. Ron valued reading, especially history. He was a strong supporter of his children’s education encouraging them along the way. He made sure his kids had cars when they left home for college. He loved fishing Zipple Bay on Lake of the Woods. Ron cherished his vinyl records music especially with his musically, talented family.
Ron enjoyed having the grandkids visit. The grandkids learned about grandpa’s passion of the outdoors by helping with yard work, shooting BB gun, and riding the 4 wheeler around the yard.
Ron and Judy shared their time to visit, bowl, camp, dance, garden, and tour the farm country together.
Ronald was a member of River of Life Church, Thief River Falls, MN and served as secretary for Midland Board of Directors from 1982-1983.
Ron is survived by his wife Judy of Oklee; children Ryan (Wendy) Rustan of Vining, Keli (Dan) Cox of Barnesville, Kim Douglas of Bexley, OH; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Will, Jaida, Elias, Brant, Josephine, and David; sisters, Jean (Bob) Halvorson, Glenda Strand, Janice (Dave) Odegaard, Sandra (Scott) Lucas and Shari (Sergio) Palacios; Along with numerous other relatives.
Ron was preceded in the death by his mother and father, Gloria and Richard Rustan; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elouise and Lawrence Srnsky; brothers-in-law, Scott Strand, Jerry Srnsky, Arlin Sanders, Rolland Asselin, and Kenny Coan; sister-in-law, Joy Olson.
