Services for Robert “Bob” Dukek

Robert “Bob” Dukek, 72, of Bagley, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home in Bagley, MN.

A grave side memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bagley City Cemetery in Bagley, MN. Military Honors will be accorded by the Irvin Blix American Legion Post #16 of Bagley, MN. A lunch will be held after the service at the lower Shelter at Bagley City Park.  The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements. 

Bob was born on August 17, 1945 at Norfolk, Virginia the son of Lester and Freda (Beaver) Dukek. He was baptized and confirmed at Bagley and attended Bagley high School.  He entered the United States Navy on December 19, 1963 and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1967.  While serving our country during the Vietnam War, Bob earned the Vietnam Service Medal (with 2 bronze stars). The National Defense Service medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.  He reached the rank of ENFA and was the Captain PBR 5 squad leader.  He also was the in National Reserve from 1967 – 1969.  Bob married Shirley Friborg on July 13, 1968 at Bagley, MN.  Bob worked at Wilcox Lumber from 1968 – 1969 and then went to work for Lakehead Pipeline in 1969 and worked there until his retirement in 2000.  Bob was a member of the Alida Church, the Blackpowder Bandits, where he was a 4-H leader and a shooting sports teacher.  He was on the township board and the church council.  He was a member of the NRA, the MN deer Hunters Associating, the Sheriff’s reserve and enjoyed going to the Legion.   He enjoyed woodworking, welding, fishing, farming, family, church and bowling with the Dukek’ s.  Bob was a man who loved family above all else.  He adored and respected his wife.  He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren.  He could always be heard sharing wisdom and stories.  Bob held firm to his beliefs and was willing to share.  He loved babies, he said they always reminded him how amazing life could be.  He was involved heavily in his community and will do anything for friends or strangers.

Son – Jim (Karen) Dukek of Clearbrook, MN

Daughter – Debbie (Jeff) Parson of Andover, MN

Roberta (Dale) Adams of Bagley, MN

Brother - Ronald (Dolores) Dukek of Paxton, IL

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother – Roger Dukek and grandson – Hunter Eck.
