Services for Peggy Nelson

Peggy Nelson, age 59, of Clearbrook, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston following a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14th, at the United Methodist Church in Fosston with the Rev. James Clausen officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, January 13th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. A private interment will be held at a later date. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston. Lunch to celebrate Peggy’s life will follow the service.
Peggy was born on September 28, 1959, to Robert and Lois (Dunning) Ball in Fosston, Minnesota. She was a lifelong member of the Fosston United Methodist Church, was baptized, confirmed, and married there. Growing up on the family farm in Lengby, MN, Peggy was active in choir, drama, pep club, speech, AFS, FHA, FFA, VICA, and Girl’s State. After years of participating in 4-H, she later judged 4-H exhibits at county fairs.
Peggy graduated from Fosston High School in 1977 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the University of Wisconsin – Stout in Menomonie. She married Wallace Nelson on December 18, 1982. The couple lived on a farm near Fosston, where they raised their children, until moving to Clearbrook, MN, and opening Wally’s Processing in 1993
Peggy taught Family, Home, and Consumer Science at Red Lake High School from 1993 until the time of her death.  Adored by her students, Peggy achieved many accolades during her teaching career. She loved her students, and the Faculty and Staff of the Red Lake School District.
Peggy was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2004, she fought a courageous battle with support from numerous friends and family throughout the years.
Peggy loved spending time with her family and friends, but especially her grandchildren.  She also loved sewing and quilting, reading, and shopping. Peggy was an enthusiastic sports fan, but her favorite was supporting the Red Lake Warriors.
Peggy is survived by her husband Wally; children Dana (Keith) Wojciechowski, of Greenbush, MN, Jolene Nelson, Billings, Montana, Ben (Jill) Nelson, Clearbrook, and Brady (Amanda) Nelson, also of Clearbrook; grandchildren Kally Wojciechowski, Isaiah Lande, Paxton Gauger, Molly, Maddy, and Gus Nelson, Talia, Harvey, and Elloise Nelson; father Robert Ball; sisters Debbie (Ernie) Moen, of Cambridge, MN, Judy (Paul) Ophus of Fosston, MN, and Roberta (Paul) Freeman of Fergus Falls, MN; close friend Norma Erickson, many other family and friends. 
Peggy is preceded in death by her mother, Lois Ball, brother Randy Ball, nephew Bobby Ball, and grandparents.
Pallbearers are Peggy’s grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers are the Staff and Students of the Red Lake School District.
