Pearl June Christianson was born on March 23, 1928 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was raised by foster parents, Albert and Emma Rustad in Hill River Township and attended Ridgelawn country school.
Pearl was married to Bud Watne on June 25, 1944 at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully. After their marriage, they farmed and raised their family north of Gully. In addition to raising her family and working beside Bud on the farm, Pearl held several jobs throughout the years; she worked at Oklee Manufacturing as shipping and receiving clerk, Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, Mrs. Olson’s Lefse near Gonvick, and seasonal work in the wild rice fields near Gully. Bud passed away in 1994.
After Bud’s passing, Pearl continued to live on the farm for several years until moving to the Brookfield Apartments in Clearbrook. In November of 2010 she moved to the Good Samaritan Home and, for the past two years, has resided at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston.
Pearl was a life-long member of Lund Lutheran Church and the church ladies aid. Though she didn’t have much spare time, Pearl did enjoy embroidery. Pearl also enjoyed cooking coffee and donuts for area working men or anyone that happened to stop by. Pearl was a hard worker and faithful servant.
