Services for Paul Noyes

Paul Noyes, age 67, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 12th, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Because of attendance restrictions, funeral services for Paul will be for his family only. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19th, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Michael Sletto officiating.

The public is invited to gather for a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine, immediately following the funeral service (approximately 3:00 p.m.). Mask use is required at both services. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Erskine and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.

Paul Otto Noyes was born on July 30, 1953 in Red Lake County, Minnesota to parents Fred and Arlene (Abrams) Noyes. He grew up in Erskine and graduated from Erskine High School in 1971.

Paul was united in marriage to Debbie Youmans on October 20, 1973. After their marriage, he worked for Garden Valley Telephone Company in Erskine and Integra Telecom in Bloomington, where they lived for two years, and Grand Forks.

Paul worked in a number of places, including owning and operating the pallet shop on Hwy 2 and 59; for Paradis driving pilot cars for wind blades, and for CHS hauling fertilizer in the spring and fall. He also worked part-time with the City of Erskine, mowed at several places in the Erskine area, and was the Mayor of Erskine for 10 years.

Paul had a life-long love of music and sports. He sang in the Grace Lutheran Church choir, played bass and sang with the Country Kings/Daybreak for several years and simply enjoyed listening to his favorite bands. He loved playing softball with the American State Bank team and was on a bowling league in Crookston with the Erskine guys. Watching Vikings games with friends and family in his garage was always a good time.

Paul also liked being in the outdoors and working with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and deer hunting with his son-in-law and grandson and loved riding his Harley. He and Debbie enjoyed taking several trips on their bike with friends. It goes without saying that Paul’s best times in life were spent with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Paul passed away after a two-week battle with Covid-19 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks at the age of 67 years.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Debbie, of Erskine; two daughters, Heather (Cory) Simonson of Rockford, MN, and Heidi (Tony) Stuhaug of Erskine; five grandchildren, Madison (Zach) Plante, Kolton Stuhaug, Clare Stuhaug, and Carly and Ellie Simonson; one sister, Virginia Jones of Crookston, MN; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Arlene Noyes; father and mother-in-law, William and Ardis Youmans; brother-in-law, Buck Jones; one infant brother and an infant sister.
