ORTON ORLANDO STARDIG         

The family and friends of Orton Stardig are sad to announce his passing on February 15, 2018 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg, Texas at the age of 94. 

Orton was born to Albert and Hilda Stardig on July 28, 1923.  He was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church of McIntosh.  He attended country school through the 8th grade and then went on to McIntosh High School, graduating in 1940. 

Orton farmed 400 acres of land southeast of Winger, growing wheat, oats, barley and flax.  His pastimes included woodworking, dancing, listening to Scandinavian “old time” music, playing games and reading.  After retiring, he also enjoyed golfing and walking his dog.  He began spending winters in Texas in 1977. 

Although Orton was a man of few words, he will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and calm, kind and loving spirit. 

Orton was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Martha, and his wife Ency.  He is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Mona, his granddaughter Lisa, and his stepchildren James, Cassandra and Jason.
