Services for Oren Syrtveit

Oren Syrtveit passed away on Friday October 2, 2020 at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh, MN surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 202 at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee, MN with Reverend Linda Molitor Officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Clearwater Church Cemetery rural Oklee, MN. Following Minnesota and CDC guidelines with masks and social distancing.

 Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Oren Allen Syrtveit was born March 12, 1934 son of Alfred and Gunda (Watne) Syrtveit at Fosston, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Clearwater Lutheran Church. He went thru the 8th grade and attended Northland Tech, Welding school in Superior, WI and the Lincoln School for Welding in Cleveland, OH.

Oren entered the US Army on February 16, 1955 an served his country until his honorable discharge on February 15, 1957.

He worked in Milwaukee, Montana, and on the North Shore for the mining companies for 42 years. He also worked at Bemidji for Thor Thorson.

On November 11, 2006 he married Loretta Lundeen, Flatgard at Salem Lutheran Church. He is a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Oren enjoyed gun collection and fishing trips, especially eating the fish. He took pride in clearing the land on his farm.

Oren is survived by his wife Loretta; twin brother Orlo Syrtveit of Minot, ND; sister Lois Tryan of Scoby, MT; nieces and nephews Bruce, Bob, Lisa Tryan, Lana and Jan Sorenson, Karla and Dale Henson along with many great nieces, nephews and cousins. Step-children Toni (Rod) Johnson, Dale (Kelly) Flatgard, LeAnn (Jerry) Smith, Craig (Shelly) Flatgard and many step-grand and great-grandchildren.

Oren is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, and 2 nieces.
