Services for Olga Ann Black

Olga Ann Black, 89, of Clearbrook, MN died on Tuesday February 9, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook, MN.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Bemidji at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church with Father Don Braukman officiating. Interment will be held at Camp Ripley Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.  The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley, MN assisted the family with arrangements.

 

Olga Ann (Slavec) Black was born February 27th, 1926 in Tollerburg, Colorado.She was raised as a coal miner’s daughter. In Morley a coal mining town currently a ghost town in Colorado. She graduated from Trinidad High school in 1945, where she was in the choir for 4 years and she spoke two languages fluently.  After graduation, she took up residence with the nuns in Denver, Colorado until she was united in marriage to Clark Newell Black, Jr. on October 30th, 1948. She moved to Ogilvie, MN with her husband and was a devoted wife and mother in which they had a brief residence in Kansas then moved to Clearbrook, MN where she lived and started raising her children. She moved to Little Falls, MN where she continued to be a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and friend. During her time in Little Falls, she was in the Women’s Moose Club Auxillary and was an active moose club, and CB Club member. She worked and retired after 20 years, as a dedicated Nursing Assistant at the Lutheran Senior Citizens.  After retirement, she move to Akeley, MN and they became snowbirds living in Mesa and Apache Junction, Arizona during the winter months. Her last place of residence was at Good Samaritan’s Home in Clearbrook, MN for the last 9 years of her 89 beautiful years of life. Olga had a heart of gold and was a very giving person; she always looked for the good in people and would always offer to help. She was a hard worker but she also love to have fun and was quit the jokester. She loved to dance especially to the beat of some favorites like Elvis Presley.  In her pass time, she loved to paint or draw and was dedicated to her faith in Jesus Christ who called her home on the Eve of February 9th, 2016 eighteen days before her 90th birthday.

 

She is survived by Daughters -Joyce (Harlow) Janssen of Osage, Minnesota

Kathy Erickson of Livermore, Iowa

Jean (Kevin) Myrum of Bemidji, Minnesota

Karen Black of Bemidji, Minnesota.

15 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren

 

Proceeded by death by her Mother - Jennie Slavec; Father- Louie Slavec; husband - Clark Black, Jr.; Siblings- Brother -  Fleker Slavec; Sister - Alice Williams and brother-in-law Kenny Williams; sister - Joshephine Slavec and and sons-in-law- Larry Erickson and Dan Meyer.
