Services for Norman Stenvik

Norman Stenvik, 79, of Goodridge, MN died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN with his loving wife at his side.

Funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Philip Johnson officiating.  Burial will be at Rosendahl Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.  

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:30 PM prayer service on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN.  Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church.

Norman Edward Stenvik was born on November 7, 1936 in Star Township, Pennington County, MN the son of Oscar and Esther (Coan) Stenvik.  He was baptized and confirmed at Rosendal Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN.  He attended country school and also Goodridge School. 

On October 17, 1959, Norman was united in marriage to Lorraine Warne at the Lutheran parsonage in Goodridge, MN by Pastor Heltne. They made their home on the Stenvik family farm in Reiner Township, east of Goodridge, MN and to this union six sons were born, Lynn, Keith, Scott, Bradley, Randall, and Arlen.  Norman entered into service with the United States Army in 1960 and following his Honorable Discharge he returned to the family farm in Reiner Township.  

In 1965, Norman went to work for Brodin’s in Thief River Falls where he worked until 1987 and he also farmed all the while working out.  In 1989, Norman and Lorraine started their own business which they called Country Heating which they operated until 2010 when he retired due to health reasons.  

He enjoyed gardening, square dancing, making toys, fabricating, fishing, traveling, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing the grandkids and taking them to Sjulestad’s Gummy Worm Store.  Norman was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN and American Legion Post # 162 in Grygla, MN.  Norman and Lorraine were also very active in 4-H, FFA and the Bit & Bridle Saddle Club. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine; sons, Lynn (Jan) Stenvik of Middle River, MN, Scott (Gwen) Stenvik, Brad (special friend, Cassie) Stenvik all of Thief River Falls, Randy (Dawn) Stenvik of Whitewater, MT and Arlen (special friend, Christine) Stenvik of Goodridge; daughter-in-law, Aysun Stenvik of Istanbul, Turkey; grandchildren, Lindsay (Chris) Hennek, Amanda (Jesse) George, Tom (Whitney) Stenvik, Jackie Stenvik, Danielle (Alex) Hanson, Kyle Stenvik, Mitchal Stenvik, Casandra Stenvik, Brittney Stenvik, Cassidy Stenvik, Zackary Stenvik, Avery Stenvik, Evan Stenvik; 2 step-grandchildren, Christopher (Jodi) Johnson and Joseph (Ally) Thompson; 12 great-grandchildren, Neveah, Sophie, Stiles, Amelia, Alex, Autumn, Cora, Oliver, Julianna, Vivian, Declan, Chase Martin; sisters, Elsie Dahl, Edith Eidelbes and Doris (Ben) Mosher all of Tower, MN; sister-in-law, Vivian Stenvik; mother-in-law, Penelope Warne of Thief River Falls; brothers-in-law, Darrel (Sophie) Warne of Badger, MN, Lowell (Barb) Warne of Grygla, MN; sister-in-law, Debra (Ralph) Cox of Menagha, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Keith; parents; siblings, Irene, Wallace, Jeanette, Orland; brothers-in-law, Alhert Dahl and Robert Eidelbes; and father-in-law, Allen “Jack” Warne.
