Services for Norma Jane (Bardwell) Sims
Norma Jane (Bardwell) Sims died on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in Bagley, MN.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church with the Reverend Adam Krog officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at Elim Lutheran Cemetery at Clearbrook, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Norma was born on January 21, 1938 in Clover Township, MN and was raised in Clearbrook, MN. She graduated from Clearbrook High School.
Norma moved to Minneapolis, MN and resided there from 1956 until 1969. She married Burnett (Bud) Sims on December 3, 1960 in Minneapolis. She worked at N.W. Bell Telephone Company, Mercy Hospital and two nursing homes there. In 1961 she and Bud had their son Randy and in 1962 they had their daughter Tami. In 1969 she and Bud moved the family back to Clearbrook where she worked at the Clearbrook School as a cook and Bud worked at Arctic Cat. In 1975 they moved to Bagley. There she worked at the hospital for 8 years and Pine Ridge Residence for another 8-9 years. After retiring they moved to Fergus Falls in 1999 to be closer to their family. Norma worked as a foster grandparent for two years while there. While living in Fergus Falls, she and Bud were members of Federated Church where Norma was active in Bible Studies and the quilting group. She enjoyed reading, embroidering, crocheting, listening to country and gospel music and helping to care for their two grandchildren.
After 10 years in Fergus Falls, they moved back to Clearbrook. In 2015 they moved to Gonvick, MN. Bud passed away in 2016 and Norma continued to live in Gonvick. In April 2018 Norma moved to Cornerstone Assisted Living in Bagley, MN. Her final place of residence was Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in Bagley. Norma was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN.
Norma is survived by her son Randy (Susan) Sims of Gonvick, MN; Foster son – Herb Pawlitschek of St. Paul, Minnesota; Two grandchildren- Dominic Facio and Samantha Facio and dear friend Jennifer Schiffler, all of Fergus Falls, MN. Four sisters- Elaine Anderson of Fosston, MN; Violet Hagen of Clearbrook, MN; Fern Jackson of Clearbrook, MN; Sylvia Johnson of Cambridge, MN. One brother- Glen (Donna) Bardwell of Clearbrook, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bud, daughter Tami Facio and son-in-law Victor Facio, one brother Ray Bardwell, one sister Adeline Kaehn and parents Ernest and Jennie Bardwell.
