Services for Mayvonne Vigen
Mayvonne Vigen, 69, of Goodridge, MN passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND with her loving family at her side.
The funeral service to celebrate Mayvonne’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at the Goodridge Cemetery.
Mayvonne Adele Anderson was born December 28, 1947 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Alton A. and Adella (Fonnest) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. When Mayvonne was 9 years old her mother passed away, and the family moved and resided in various places. Mayvonne graduated from Goodridge High School with the class of 1965. Following high school, she worked for Valley Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
On October 5, 1968, Mayvonne was united in marriage to Larry Vigen at the Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN. They made their home in New Hope, MN for a short time where Mayvonne worked at a nursing home and at Norwest Bank. The couple returned to make their home in Goodridge and in 1973, and purchased their farm in Moylan Township, Marshall County, MN where they have continued to reside. This union was blessed with three children, David, Paul and Leah.
Mayvonne and Larry owned and operated a small grain and hog farm from 1973 until 1997. Through the years, Mayvonne worked at the Goodridge Liquor Store. While working Goodridge Café, Mayvonne became a Star Route mail carrier in 1986, and she continued that route until 2015. She was also employed at DigiKey for 18 years where she retired from on December 31, 2015. Mayvonne worked two jobs throughout her life and her husband, Larry always wanted to find her a third!
She enjoyed anything to do with family and was content to be at home with her husband, children and grandchildren. Mayvonne liked word finds, solitaire, bingo, knitting, listening to music and watching outdoor theatre shows. She loved when the grandkids came to visit and would cater to their every need.
Survivors include her children, David (Missy) Vigen, Paul (Kristin) Vigen, and Leah (Dallas) Bothum; grandchildren, Brenden & Kailee Vigen and Nevada Bothum; brother, Dalton (Peg) Anderson; sister/best friend, Donna (Curtiss) Quam; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcia (Russ) Johnson, LeRoy (Madelyn) Vigen, Susan (Gene) Paulson, Patricia (Larry) Grabowska, Howard (Mary) Vigen; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry on July 14, 2017; parents; sister, Adatha; and mother & father-in-law, Ervin and Alice (Wold) Vigen.
