Services for Maynard Ervin Thorson

Maynard Ervin Thorson of Waukesha, WI died on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI at the age of 80 years old.  Maynard was born on September 27, 1936 to Ervin and Helma (nee Hagen) Thorson in Fosston, MN.  He graduated high school in Bagley, MN in 1954.  He married Carole McBain in 1958 and they had three children; Scott LeRoy, Cheryl Lynn and Ross Angus.  They divorced in 1974.  Maynard moved to Waukesha, WI in 1987 and met his life partner, Diann Voigt, in 1992.  He had various jobs including the missile sites in North Dakota, mining operations in Aurora, MN, owned a road construction business in Leonard, MN, was a mechanic with U-Haul in Minneapolis, MN, was a commercial painter, as well as delivering parts for various auto part stores in the Waukesha area until he retired in December of 2016 due to health issues.  Maynard’s passion was buying, fixing up and selling cars for over 40 years.  He enjoyed traveling to the western states visiting family, antiquing, going to casinos, country western music, dancing, car shows and going to auctions.  He recently drove to his hometown of Leonard, MN to attend his 80th birthday party with friends and family. 

 

Maynard is survived by his life partner, Diann Voigt of Waukesha, WI; his brother, Barron Thorson of Leonard, MN; sister, Renee (Dennis) Engebretson of Leonard, MN; son Scott (Mary) Thorson of Carson City, NV and their children Chris (Chrissy) Thorson of Carson City, NV and Rachel Thorson of Rochester, MN; daughter Cheryl Thorson of Rochester, MN; son Ross (Kris) Thorson of Grand Forks, ND and their children, Nicole and Erika of Grand Forks, ND; step-son Scott Voigt of Waukesha and his daughters Amber (Jakes) Ewan of Elkhorn, WI and Ashley Voigt of Whitewater, WI; step-daughter Shawn (Rob) Wagner of Waukesha, WI; step-daughter Shannon Voigt of Waukesha, WI and her daughter Heather Thew; seven precious great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved chihuahua, Princess.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bradley, sisters Yvonne and Sandra and granddaughter Alixandra Wagner. 

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the 4:00 p.m. funeral service in celebration of Maynard’s life.
