Services for Mary Ann Verbout

Mary Ann Verbout, 84 of Thief River Falls, MN formerly of Grygla, MN passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at St. Clement Catholic Church, Grygla, MN with Father Adam Hamness presiding.  Burial will follow at St. Clement Cemetery, Grygla.

 

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at St. Clement Catholic Church, Grygla.

 

Mary Ann Polansky was born October 18, 1934 in Thief River Falls, MN the fifth of six children born to George and Mary (Musial) Polansky.  She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith.  She attended country school in Rollis Township through the eighth grade and graduated from Middle River High School.

 

On June 2, 1952 Mary Ann was united in marriage to Robert Verbout at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Middle River, MN.  They made their home on a farm east of Grygla, MN where they farmed, milked cows and raised their eleven children, Dennis, Sharon, Barbara, Shirley, Susan, Ardell, Lenay, Gerald, John, Roxane, and Dawn.  Mary Ann enjoyed the year that she worked planting trees for Soil Conservation in Beltrami County.

 

In 1977 Mary Ann began working for Marshall County Social Services where she cleaned houses for the elderly and eventually took on the role as director of Grygla Senior Citizens.  Mary Ann served as director of Grygla Senior Citizens for over 25 years; this job brought her great satisfaction.  This job included coordinating food for senior meals and other activities such as BINGO, card playing and quilting.  Mary Ann also helped care for a premature child for four years showing great compassion and love for this child as he developed.

 

Mary Ann was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, Grygla, and was active in both the Ladies Guild and Parish Council.  She also dedicated 25 years as a 4-H leader in Marshall and Roseau Counties, helping her children as well as others bring out their best.

 

Mary Ann’s family was her life.  She loved her family dearly as she would prepare the food of their choice when they came to visit.  Christmas Eve was always a big event at Mary Ann’s home. She was a devoted and dedicated Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother. 

 

Following heart surgery, in the summer of 2010, Mary Ann and Robert moved in to Valley Home in Thief River Falls.  It was a place where Mary Ann could finally relax and enjoy conversation with others.  She was currently residing at the Thief River Care Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert on December 12, 2012; parents; siblings, Lawrence Polansky, George Polansky, Eugene (Marge) Polansky, Harold Polansky; son-in-law, Robert Partridge; and brother-in-law, Donald Verbout.
