Services for Marjorie Yager
Marjorie Yager, formerly of Grygla, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN, at the age of 82.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Grygla, MN, with Rev. Vicki Saude-Worthington officiating. Interment will follow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the church.
Marjorie Keehr was born July 25, 1933 on the farm at Foley, MN, the daughter of Ervin and Evelyn (Brown) Keehr. She was baptized at Bethany Church in Morrill, MN located north of Foley. She attended country school near Ogilvie and Foley, MN. She then attended schools at Milaca, St. Paul and Deer River, MN and graduated from Ogilvie High School.
On June 12, 1954, Marjorie was united in marriage to Edward Yager at Ogilvie. The couple made their home in St. Paul, MN, moving to Ogilvie in 1956 and in 1970 they moved to Grygla, MN, where she helped out on the farm, enjoyed gardening, and loved babysitting her grandchildren.
She also enjoyed canning, playing cards with neighbors, and spending time with family. Marjorie was involved with the Sunday School program, and active in the Ladies Aid at Our Savior’s as well as starting the Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) Chapter at Our Savior’s in which she was involved in fund raising efforts through AAL.
In 2008 Marjorie moved to Valley Home Assisted Living in Thief River Falls, and in 2015 moved to the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine until her passing.
Marjorie is survived by 5 children: Marilou Byklum, Grygla, MN, Diane Yager, Grygla, MN, Edwin Yager, Grygla, MN, Ruby (Paul) Sundberg, Grygla, MN and William (Marita) Yager, Grygla, MN; 13 grandchildren: Jessica Byklum, Lisa (Karl) Bring, Kevin Byklum, Matthew (Jennifer) Sundberg, Lindsay (Garret) Gjesdal, Jacob (Abby) Sundberg, Samuel and Eli Sundberg, Katy, Emily, Bethany, Lydia, and Olivia Yager; 8 great-grandchildren: Esther, Lilly, Cora, and Tracy Gjesdal, Lexi and Luke Bring, Scarlett Sundberg, and Clayton Sundberg; sisters: Della Moen, Cambridge, MN, Arlene Coplan, Ogilvie, MN and Joyce Thompson, WI; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Marjorie is preceded in death by husband, Edward; a son, Darwin; son-in-law, Orvis Byklum; her parents, and her brothers, Richard and Eugene Keehr.
Marjorie’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Pioneer Memorial Care Center and Valley Home for their loving care of our mother.
