Services for Lee Hartel
Lee Hartel, age 65, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 25th, at Essentia First Care Living Center in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30th, at the McIntosh Community Center in McIntosh with Jeanne Rains officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Free Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the community center. Lee Orvin Hartel was born on October 19, 1950 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Orvin and Evonne Carlson Hartel. He grew up in McIntosh and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1968. He farmed grain and milked with his father and his brother, Mark. After Orvin’s retirement, Lee and Mark formed a partnership. In 2000, Lee went to work for Bauer Farms of Erskine. He was employed there until 2015 when ill health forced him to stop working.
As a hobby during the last couple of winters, Lee enjoyed restoring old John Deere tractors with his good friend, Noel Thompson. He liked to travel, enjoying several trips to Florida. He also enjoyed attending parades, especially those that included tractors and/or farm machinery. Most of all, Lee enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to Julie Christianson for all she as done for the Hartel family and for being so special to Lee.
Survivors include his mother, Evonne Hartel of McIntosh; six brothers, Roger of Northome, MN, Kenny (Nancy) of Wilton, MN, Dean (Lorri Ann) of Red Lake Falls, MN, Mark (Peggy) of McIntosh, Dale “Boof” of Hillsboro, ND, and Jim (Lori) of Bradenton, FL; two aunts, Lorraine Carlson and Ruth Carlson, both of McIntosh; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orvin in 2008; and his grandparents.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the McIntosh High School Class of 1968.
