Services for Laura (Aagesen) Martin,
Laura (Aagesen) Martin, 79, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, March 24, 2021 with her loving family by her side.
Funeral mass services will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bagley, Minnesota with Father JohnMelkies Suvakeen officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be held at the Appleton City Cemetery in Appleton, MN at a later date. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Laura was born on March 13, 1942 in Duluth, MN the daughter of Elmer and Edna (Mattioli) Aagesen. Later her family moved to Appleton, MN where she attended school and graduated from Appleton High School in 1960. She furthered her education at Moorhead State University, St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota with a master’s degree in Education. On June 8, 1968 Laura was united in marriage to James Martin in Brooklyn Park, MN and they have been married for almost 53 years. In 1973, they moved to Bagley, MN where they raised their 3 children Eric, Jason, and Andrea.
Laura worked for the Osseo, McIntosh, Erskine, and Clearbrook/Gonvick schools as a Librarian/Media Specialist before retiring. She spent many hours volunteering at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Bagley Food Shelf, Bagley Senior Center, and at the local nursing homes. Laura had a passion for taking care of others, and always went above and beyond what she was asked. She had a loving, caring, and supportive heart. She was very giving, and always put herself last. Laura enjoyed collecting antiques, reading, and sorting through her things. She had a love of nature, flowers, and butterflies especially monarchs. Laura had a large milkweed patch in her garden and sprinkled milkweed seeds wherever she went. She was the most unselfish person one could ever meet; may God continue to bless her memory for all who loved her.
Laura is survived by her husband, James Martin of Bagley, MN; her children,
Son-Jason Martin (Dawn & Quinn) of Bemidji, MN;
Daughter- Andrea (Greg) Niswender of Bagley, MN;
Sister-Deanna Lundquist; brother- Stephen (Sue) Aagesen; sister-in-law- Judy Aagesen; Numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son-Eric Martin; her parents-Elmer & Edna Aagesen;
2 brothers; and 1 nephew.
