Kenneth Walter Rolf was born at home in Lessor Township, McIntosh, Minnesota on September 21, 1923 to parents Walter and Thea Jore Rolf. His grandmother Anna Jore served as midwife as she did for all his siblings. He was baptized at home on September 30, 1923 by Rev. P.J. Seltz from Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed on June 19, 1938 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. C.M. Westermoe, both located in Lessor Township.

In the fall of 1930, Kenneth began school with his brother Truman, attending District #162, sometimes called the Voxland school. He finished 8th grade in 1938. Taking Truman with him, Kenneth drove himself to Crookston on graduation day to get their 8th grade diplomas.

Following graduation, Kenneth and Truman stayed home and began farming. He began seeding grain in 1939 with four horses and continued to seed with horses until 1947 when he switched to using a C Allis Chalmers.

In 1942 his father Walter left home and took jobs in different states looking for a better climate for his asthma. This left Kenneth and Truman to do all the farm work. In January 1941 and 1942 Kenneth attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis for 10 weeks and attended Prayer and Praise week at LBI in 1943, 1944 and 1945. While he was there in 1945 he met Harriet Nelson and they were married on April 26, 1946 at First Lutheran Church in Madison, Minnesota. They resided on their farm in Lessor Township primarily milking cows for a living. He was one of the first in Polk County to install a milking parlor in the early 1950’s and added a bulk tank in 1957. In 2013 they moved to Greenleaf in Thief River Falls and in 2014 to the Country Place in Erskine, Minnesota. Death came to Kenneth Rolf on March 31, 2016 at the Grand Forks, North Dakota hospital.

Throughout his life Kenneth was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church, and served many years on the church council and 40 years as a Sunday School teacher. He also served 14 years on the AFLC Schools Board of Trustees. Other boards he served on: Redby Mission, Northern Lutheran Mission, Dairy Herd Improvement Association, and McIntosh Co-op. He was a member of the Gideons, which included a jail ministry in Crookston. Kenneth loved to carry a New Testament and tracts in his shirt pocket, and to talk with others about trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior.

Kenneth is survived by Harriet, his wife of 69 years, 11 months, and six children, James (Mary) Rolf of Moorhead, MN; Mary (Rev. Lyle) Aadahl of Hayfield, MN; John Rolf of Fosston, MN, Naomi (Wayne) Peterson of Thief River Falls, MN; Rev. Joel (Mary-Ann) Rolf of Plymouth, MN; and Paul (Darlene) Rolf of McIntosh, MN.
