Keith Hagen, 76, of Gatzke, MN passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a 5:00 PM prayer service on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also begin at Noon with the funeral to celebrate Keith’s life at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1024 Tindolph Avenue South, Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor David Jahn officiating. Burial will follow at Moose River Cemetery, Gatzke, MN.
Keith Barry Hagen was born June 11, 1947 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Ralph and Ione (Peterson) Hagen. He graduated from Maplewood Academy in 1965.
On December 12, 1966, Keith entered into service with the United States Army in Fargo, ND. He was stationed at Fort Carson, CO and was trained as a Medical Corpsman. Keith was Honorably Discharged on September 20, 1967.
Keith returned to live in Thief River Falls where he worked at Speeds Auto as well as helping on the family farm.
While dining at Inga’s Café which is now, Biff’s Kitchen, Keith met the love of his life, Shirley Anderson. On December 31, 1969 the couple were married at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Thief River Falls. To this union three children were born, Brenda, Vince and Juanita. They lived in Thief River Falls until March of 1973 when they moved to the Hagen Family Farm in Rollis Township, near Gatzke, MN. He lived out the rest of his life farming small grains and raising beef cattle.
Keith was dedicated to his family and to his community. He was a local mechanic that served his community by fixing anything that was needed. Keith was a simple man with a great sense of humor and had a joke for every occassion. He enjoyed cattle, ice fishing, working at Hagen Farms with Larry, David, Walter, Lewis & Gus, having coffee with friends and he especially loved spending time with his grandkids and following their activities.
He served on the Rollis Township Board for many years.
Survivors include his children, Brenda Hagen of Silver Bay, MN, Vince (Heather) Hagen of Gatzke, MN and Juanita Watne of Grygla, MN; 5 grandchildren, Kelsie (Keary) Petschl, Jordan (fiancé, Annie) Hagen, Shalin (Tiffany) Anderson, Bailey (special friend, Alex) Watne and Brigette Watne; 5 great-grandchildren, Colton Good, Hailyn Petschl, Ainsley Renwick, Keaton Petschl, Kali Jo Hagen; siblings, Emily (Loren) Dunston, Elizabeth (Charlie) Eberbach, Laurel (Roger) Cox, Irvin (Jane) Hagen and Jennifer Wendlandt; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents; grandparents, Albert & Ida Peterson, Dick & Francis Hagen; brothers, Ramon and Bruce; and sister, Glenda Redinger.
Keith’s family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care at the end of his life.
