Services for John Joseph Paradis
John Joseph Paradis age 50 of Plummer, MN passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 following a courageous 27 month battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday August 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating and Deacon John Bruggeman. Burial will be held at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Cemetery at Plummer, MN. Lunch will be held at the Plummer Community Hall following the burial.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
John Joseph Paradis was born June 29, 1967 in Thief River Falls, MN; son of Joseph and Marian (Schams) Paradis. He grew up in the Plummer area and graduated from the Plummer High School in 1985.
He was baptized at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Terrebonne on September 17, 1967 and confirmed April 15, 1995.
On April 22, 1995 he was united in marriage to Valerie Schill at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN.
John was employed at a young age for Zutz Farms where he did custom combining in the Southern States. Later he moved on to Anderson Equipment, Paradis Inc. and Titan Machinery until his illness forced him to retire. He learned all of his mechanical abilities on his own.
He enjoyed working with scrap metal and iron, hunting, fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, visiting family and friends. He had an aggravating way of showing his love toward people.
John is survived by his wife, Valerie of Plummer; children, Alexandria Schill Paradis (special friend Ryan Overton) of Thief River Falls, MN, Ariel Paradis of Thief River Falls, MN, Josef Paradis of Plummer, MN and Melissa Paradis of Thief River Falls, MN; granddaughter Andria Schill-Overton; siblings Bonnie (Barry) Humphrey, Ann Paradis, Linda (Randy) Olson, Kathy (Randy) Clausen, Nancy (Glenn) Ahlers and William “Bill” (Danielle) Paradis, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John is preceded in death by his parents, infant twins, a brother James William and his grandparents.
