Services for Joan Engebretsen,

Joan Engebretsen, age 76, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 11th, at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18th, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Michael Sletto officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Minnesota Department of Health social distancing guidelines for funerals will be observed. Use of a mask is not mandatory, but is encouraged, if attending. Joan was born on March 22, 1944 in Bagley, Minnesota to parents Vern and Jo (Efraimson) Larson. She grew up in Clearbrook, Minnesota and graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1962.

She was united in marriage to Chris Engebretsen on January 19, 1963 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook. After their marriage, they lived in Clearbrook for a year before moving to Hopkins and Coon Rapids, Minnesota. They moved to Erskine, Minnesota in 1976 where they lived and raised their family.

In addition to caring for her family, Joan worked at Pioneer Memorial Care Center as a nurse’s aide and then at their business, Erskine Welding. She retired from Erskine Attachments in 2009. Joan and Chris enjoyed spending the summer months at Morris Point at Lake of the Woods.

She enjoyed fishing, crafts, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Chris, of Erskine; three children, Jeff (Lorie) of Horace, ND, Mike (Lynn) of Erskine, and Joann (Pat) Greendahl of Bemidji, MN; six grandchildren, Katelynn (Dylan) Kutter, Kortney Engebretsen, Hailley Engebretsen, Ryan (Larissa) Greendahl, Alexa Greendahl, and Will Greendahl; three great grandchildren, Emma Greendahl, Odin Greendahl, and Kroix Kutter.

Also surviving are two siblings, Lois (Ken) Bjerke of Clearbrook, MN, and Tom (Margaret) Larson of Clearbrook, MN; and sister-in-law, Eileen (Russ) Rhen of Thief River Falls, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William “Bill” Larson; niece, Sharon Bjerke Stoller; and nephew, Steve Bjerke.Eb
