Services for "J.O." James Prestebak

“J.O.” James Ole Prestebak passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Golden LivingCenter - Moorhead, MN at the age of 59.

 

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN with Rev. Philip Johnson officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date.

 

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls with a 7 PM prayer service and also for one hour prior to the service at the church, Friday.

 

“J.O.” James Ole Prestebak was born April 4, 1956 at a military hospital near Orleans, France to Robert and Arlene (Johnson) Prestebak. The family returned to their farm north of Goodridge soon after his birth. He was confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He participated in the Good Hope 4-H Club and the Bit and Bridle Saddle Club. J.O. attended Goodridge High School and participated in the first wrestling team.  He graduated in 1974. He graduated from Northland Community College and attended Moorhead State University and Bemidji State University.

 

J.O. made his living farming, expanding family farm land to include land in Moylan and Eckvoll townships near Goodridge. J.O. always enjoyed working with horses. When he was younger, he traveled to local horse competitions with friends and family in tow. Throughout his life, he trained and cared for horses and dogs.  He taught himself to play the guitar and loved to play the songs of Arlo and Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan and The Beatles. He enjoyed his participation in the productions of the Goodridge Historical Society. He loved tinkering with classic snowmobiles and cars.

 

J.O. is survived by his parents, Robert and Arlene Prestebak, his brother Tim and sisters Jane Prestebak (Sam Storino) and Dena (Mike) Halsa, nieces and nephews Lorentza Ruud, Anna (Alex) Burton, Adelle (Tyler) Christianson, Adrian Prestebak, Alan Prestebak, Nate Halsa, Aaron Halsa, Molly Halsa. Two great nieces or nephews are expected in May.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Wayne and Evelyn (Peterson) Johnson, Ole and Laurenca (Urdahl) Prestebak, sister-in-law Michelle Prestebak and several aunts and uncles.
