Jerome Allen Hruby passed on July 20th, 2020 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center surrounded by family. Jerome was born on June 10, 1960 in Fosston, MN, to Rudolph and Marie(Dessellier) Hruby. Raised in Oklee, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Oklee. In 1978 he graduated from Oklee High School and attended Bemidji State University earning his Bachelors Degree in 1983.
On September 3, 1983 he married Bernadette Paradis at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Terrebonne, MN. Jerome worked for Maynard Construction, First National Bank, Goldpine Home, Pamida, TEAM Industries, Wells Technology, and MN Services of the Blind Vending.
Jerome was a loving and wonderful father, husband and grandfather. Even though he lost his sight in 2015 he still enjoyed traveling by train, going to auctions, collecting coins, American flags, black panther figurines, and pink flamingos. He also got great joy from his garden and especially his many Christmas cactuses.
Survived by wife of almost 37 years Bernadette, daughter Olivia (Jeremy Ditzler) Hruby, and granddaughter Klaire Abigail of Big Lake, Alaska. Son Xavier Hruby of Bemidji. Sister Rosetta Hruby of Oklee. Dog Luna and Cat Tamiyo. Best friend Kevin Bergeron. Sister-in-laws Dava, JoAnn, Brenda, Mary Beth, Kristi and families. Preceded by parents Rudolph and Marie Hruby, Brothers Leroy, Gary, Robert and Mark.
The family has chosen not to have a funeral service at this time. Arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. They will be scattering Jerome’s ashes at his favorite fishing places in Alaska, and his ancestral grounds in Nova Scotia. Please remember Jerome listening to the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album, and spreading kindness through your actions. A memorial page titled Remembering Jerome has been set up via FB.
