Henriette M. Paradis was born November 22, 1928 in Terrebonne, MN, the daughter of Ernest and Dora (Laundry) Paradis.

She graduated from Red Lake Falls High School in 1948.  She went to Portland Oregon for a short while, but returned to Terrebonne and married Onezime Champagne on October 2, 1950.  They moved to South Milwaukee where they lived for 34 years and raised their four children.  Henriette worked many years at Kroger’s Grocery Store and Kohl’s.   They retired and returned to Brooks in 1985.  Onezime passed away suddenly on August 24. 1985, but Henriette remained in Brooks.   She married Jim Stich on September 18, 1993 and moved to Red Lake Falls.

Henriette was known to many as Grandma Pete.   A lot of people didn’t know her real name, and you’d better never call her Henrietta!  She loved playing cards, going to the casino, crocheting, and traveling.  She spent many winters in Florida with Ron and Dellas Paradis and after marrying Jim, they would spend the winters in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  She loved being with people and spending time with family and friends. She taught many of the grandkids how to play cards, and was known to make their beds if they’d play a couple of hands before catching the bus!

Due to her declining health, Henriette moved to the Oklee Assisted Living, and then to Pioneer Memorial Care Center where Jim visited her daily.

Survivors include her husband, Jim, Red Lake Falls, MN; Children:  David and Alice Champagne, Leesburg, FL, Robert and Melanie Champagne, Hagerstown MD, Susan and Mark Berberich, Brooks, MN, Lori and Dennis Pendzich, South Milwaukee, WI, step-daughter:  Toni and Terry Peterson, Roseau, MN.  4 sisters:  Ruth Carriere, South Milwaukee, WI, Irene Miller, Terrebonne, MN, Grace Stucy, Pound , WI, and Patricia Brower, Las Vegas, NV.  Ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Henriette gained another family when marrying Jim.  Along with a new daughter, Toni, and family were many brother and sister in laws:  Leo (deceased), Edward, John, Barbara, Mary, Paulette, Catherine, Phyllis, and Peter.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Onezime, parents, sister, Betty Paquin and all of her brothers: Ronald, Robert, Mark , Donald, and Thomas.

Henriette was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She will be missed.  We know she is watching over us and will forever be in our hearts.

In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN and also St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks, MN.
