Services held for Violet Ferden
Violet Ferden, age 91, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 23rd, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Bruce Blocker officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Violet Caroline Grimm was born on August 21, 1927 in Brooks, Minnesota to parents Willie and Annie Duesing Grimm. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran church in McIntosh and attended country school.
Violet was united in marriage to Maynard Lester Ferden on December 23, 1946. After their marriage they lived on the Ferden home place north of McIntosh and for a few years near Erskine. In 1958 they purchased a farm south of McIntosh where they farmed and raised their family. Maynard passed away on September 22, 1998.
Violet continued to live at home until October of 2017 when she moved to Poplar Meadows Senior Living in McIntosh.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh and active member of the Ladies Aid. In earlier years, she liked cooking and baking (pies and lefse), flowers, and gardening. In her later years, she was an avid TV watcher and liked watching and feeding birds.
Survivors include her four daughters, Sharyl (Donald) Hornbuckle of Fosston, Karen (Mike) Olson of Fosston, Sandra (David) Olson of Gully, and Gail (Dean) Strom of McIntosh; grandchildren, Scott (Kristin) Hornbuckle, Andrea “Annie” (Matt) Howard, Lisa (Brandon) Williams, Jennifer (Rick) Rasmussen, Dennis (Holly) Olson, Stephanie (Henry) Wilde, Micah Strom, Matt (Sarah) Strom, Kristi (Ben) Tofstad, and Amanda (Jarrod) Johnson.
Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Lucas Hornbuckle, Riley Kochmann, Josiah, Ella, Aaron and Ruby Howard, Chloe and Claire Williams, Jordan Rasmussen, Hannah (Peter) Kaasa, Nathan Rasmussen, Christian, Ellie, Annika, Sofia and Holden Olson, Parker Wilde, Emily and Owen Strom, Will and Brooke Tofstad, and Jordan and Jamie Johnson. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard; her parents; grandson, Michael Olson; and siblings and their spouses, Orville and Marie Grimm, Lavern and Nora Grimm, Evelyn and Edwin Nelson, and Doris and Lloyd Nelson.
