He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1949-1952.  He married his lovely bride, Zora “Jean” Ringstad (Kimberlin) while stationed in Washington state on June 2, 1951.  They were married for 56 years and had two children.

Following his military service, Roy was employed by the Boeing Co. in Seattle, WA.  as a mechanic/supervisor and then for Weyerhaeuser Co. in Snoqualmie, WA. as a mill foreman until his retirement in 1992.

It was a blessing for Roy to attend his last remaining sibling’s memorial service, Florence Ringstad (Berg) in Gully on July 15, 2017 at the same church he was confirmed in as a young boy.  He was surrounded by family and friends, some of which he had not seen in decades.  Two special friends from his childhood days in Gully were in attendance, Luverne Solien and Wanda Forsberg.

Roy is survived by one son, Lonnie Ringstad of Lake Havasu City, AZ.; one daughter, Renae (Ringstad) and son-in-law, Bruce Givan of Corvallis, OR.; one grandson, Aaron Ringstad and wife Judy of Republic, WA.; two granddaughters, Jeanne (Givan) and husband Nathan Walters of Albany, OR.; Treasure (Givan) and husband Andy Samuel of Bellingham, WA.  He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Nicole Jade, Taylor Elizabeth and Logan Aaron of Republic, WA.; Natalia Renae and Kasey Patrick of Albany, OR.; Kelly Sue and Norah Jo of Bellingham, WA.  He loved his family dearly including his surviving 20 nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ringstad (Kimberlin); parents, Alfred Ringstad and Mabel (Dahl) of Gully, MN; three brothers, Palmer Clarence, Arnold Orrin, and Russell Donald; four sisters, Dorothy Clara (Bourman), Manda Alvina (Vandeventer), Alice Viola (Anderson) and Florence Bernice (Berg).  He will be laid to rest along-side his wife, Jean, at Omak Memorial Cemetery in Okanogan, WA.  He was well loved by many and will be greatly missed.  Dad, you will forever be etched in our hearts.
