Glenn was born prematurely on January 5, 1937, at his Grandma Bergeson’s home in Clearbrook; small enough to fit inside a shoebox, which was kept near the wood stove to keep him warm. He grew up in Berner; learning how to farm alongside his dad and Grandpa Wagner. After graduating high school in 1955, Glenn attended the Teacher’s College in Bemidji, MN for a year before joining the Army National Guard and serving as a Reserve for 6 years. His training took him to Missouri, California, and Alaska. After his discharge, Glenn returned to the Gonvick area and worked, along with his brother Kenny, as a car mechanic – and also helping out on the family farm. He later moved to Osseo, MN, and began a 12-year career as a truck driver. Glenn had a boat and was often at Lake Minnetonka… skiing barefoot! His brother Ken introduced him to a pretty blonde, Mardelle Ostgaard; they were married August 1966. In 1970, they moved north to Berner to take over the Wagner farm from Glenn’s parents. In addition to farming, he worked at times at a local rice farm and at a sugar beet plant. They had 3 children; Michael, Karen, and Rachael.
Glenn is survived by his children- Mike Wagner of Warroad, Minnesota; Karen Wagner of Phoenix, Arizona; and Rachael (Jason) Pearson of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren - Sarah Wagner, and McKenzie, Madison, and Emma Pearson; sisters - Arvilla (Don) Meinhardt of Cokato, Minnesota; and Gloria (Clif) Thompson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Preceded by wife Mardy, parents Otto and Tillie; and brothers Ray and Kenny.
