Services for George W. Thorson

George W. Thorson, 61 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen Officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at Valle Cemetery at Grygla, MN.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also one hour prior  to the service on Monday.
George William Thorson was born February 21, 1954 son of George Walter and Gladyce (Roberts) Thorson at Fort Richardson, AK. He was raised at Grygla, MN where he graduated from Goodridge, MN High School in 1972. He attended Bemidji State College where he received a degree in business. He worked for many years at Kelly’s Hardware, was an assistant manager at Pamida, he then purchased the Sears Store in Thief River Falls. George worked for Arctic Cat as service parts manager for many years. George was instrumental in starting the Arctic Cat World Class Store program. After retirement he was employed part-time at Digi-Key and the Thief River Golf Course.
On May 17, 1985 George was united in marriage to Gaye Knutson at Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls.
George enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding ATV and snowmobile but most of all loved playing golf. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family at his cabin at the lake. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and attending NASCAR Races. 
George is survived by his wife Gaye of Thief River Falls, MN; children Erika (Brad) Julkowski of Blaine, MN, Terri Thorson of St. Cloud, MN, Michelle (Fiancé Glen Pfeiffer) Anderson of Vergas, MN, Jared (Paula) Comstock of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren Emmett, Fletcher and Lincoln Julkowski, Cody and Kylie Anderson, Hayden Comstock: sister Marie (Jim Kohler) Wiseth of Thief River Falls, MN, brother James Thorson of Hebron, NE; niece Jolene (Brian Kotrba)  Wiseth, and nephew Brady (Patti) Wiseth. Brother and sister-in-law Glenn (Carol) Erickson and family. His four legged friends Taz and Bella.
He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Adrian, several aunts and uncles.
In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Pennington County Humane Society.
