Services for Gene Arnold

Gene Arnold, 77, of Duluth MN passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Gene was born on September 10, 1942 in Bagley, MN to Jacob and Marcella (Huschle) Arnold. He grew up in rural Bagley and graduated from Bagley High School in 1960. Gene grew up helping on the family farm. After he graduated he spent several years logging and trucking. In the early 80's he started working at Northwoods Panelboard in the maintenance department. He was employed there until 2001 when he suffered an on-the-job accident that forced him into an early retirement.
Gene married the love of his life, Linda Mae Djernes, on September 28, 1963. One of his greatest passions was fishing, and he would look forward to the annual fishing trip to Canada. Many a huge Northern were caught by Gene. He would tell fishing stories to anyone that was willing (or not) to listen. He was especially excited when his son and grandchildren were able to accompany him on these fishing adventures. Gene was an avid card player, always looking for a card game!
He found great joy in helping others. If you needed help with "anything" Gene would be there. There was never a challenge too great. If he couldn't fix it there probably wasn't anyone around that could. He was the type of man that would literally give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. And no one could ask for a more loving and proud father or grandfather.
Gene is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Linda; daughter, Jeanne (Steve) Anderson; son Lynde Arnold; grandchildren Leif and Malin Anderson; sisters, LuVerne (John) Yocum, Joan Benson, Zelda (Keith) Avery, Kathleen Lansford; brothers Ronnie (Melinda) Arnold, Jerome Arnold, Ralph (Jan) Arnold, Leo (Kathy) Arnold, Alvin (Denise) Arnold and John (Brenda) Arnold, sister-in-law Linda Arnold; many cousins and beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Arnold and infant brother Lawrence Arnold.
Memorial Service will be held at Cease Funeral Home in Bagley MN on August 14th at 11:00 a.m.
